Words and Music

"Hi and Welcome to my Words and Music! :o)
Folk have often asked what prompted me to write certain songs so I'll try and answer that as best I can. It's probably best explained by saying that although song writing and poetry is my love; I don't and have never written to order or for the sake of it. My songs have all been inspired by significant events in my own life or in the lives of others; often people I've known who have left an indelible mark. It's the darker elements of life, such as loss of love or self; these are my inspirations.

If I have delivered my feelings with honesty and unguarded emotion; then hopefully, I will have succeeded in being able to connect with you - just as one person reaches out to confide in or to comfort another. Of course, not all of us are comfortable with this depth of emotion, particularly around strangers and ironically, I'm one of them! I find it easier to express myself through words and music. We all have our stories to tell in life; I simply tell some of my own using Poetry and Song. There's an old shoebox under my bed and in it, lots of scribbled events from my life both past and present. Some are expressed in Poetry or Prose and others in Song. Some are self-explanatory as with ‘The Homecoming' ... others are more abstract. Many of you reading this will know yourselves that sometimes, an event in your lives has just been too difficult or too painful that you could hardly bring yourself to talk about it 'at all' - Well, me too! :o)
